PalacioMagazine.com interviewed City Council candidates for Districts 2, 6, and 8. We asked each candidate the same three questions with follow-ups for clarification and more in-depth information.

  • Why are you running?
  • What is your vision for the District?
  • Name and discuss two or three Policy issues

PalacioMagazine.com sat down with District 2 candidate Ryan Lum to get his answers to these questions.

Ryan Lum wants the City of Long Beach to do something more about climate change. For the elected office newcomer, climate change is one of a number of critical issues Lum is addressing as a candidate for the City Council seat for District 2.

“I can describe myself as a plant-based activist and a climate change activist.”

According to Ryan Lum, he’s been busy the past seven years building an audience on YouTube, “building a following of nearly a quarter-million subscribers, and 31 million views, helping people develop healthy and sustainable ways of living.” This is more than a full-time job. Lum is passionate about his mission.

“I wake up and I ask myself, ‘What can I do to take it to take it further, to do a little bit more than what I was doing the day before’ and that led me to this.”

Ryan Lum faces six other challengers in the March 3rd election.
